Blog Post 27: Thesis and Outline

My thesis is:

In Humans of New York, Brandon Stanton uses photographs and commentary to display the uniqueness of the average person and to generate support for humanitarian issues.

Here is a link to my outline.

  1. It is an okay outline, but I did notice a few things. First, it might be better to just put the answers to questions instead of just the questions. Second, some of the purposes, such as number 2, are lacking in evidence and/or reasoning. Third, while it can be organized based on SOAPSTone, I can't easily tell whether or not you have an introduction and conclusion paragraph.

  2. Your thesis is lacking in specificity. It's usually a bad idea to be vague in your thesis and then become specific in the body paragraphs. I would also suggest looking at what Brandon does in his photographs (and what his intentional choices result in) and not focus so much on his personality
